The Human-Machine Commu­ni­ca­tion Inter­est Group orga­nizes a range of events designed to foster network­ing, schol­ar­ly exchange, collab­o­ra­tion, and commu­ni­ty-build­ing among its members. In addi­tion to program­ming at the ICA Annu­al Confer­ence, HMC regu­lar­ly hosts Pre- or Post-confer­ences in conjunc­tion with the annu­al ICA confer­ence. Through­out the year, HMC also offers initia­tives such as inter­na­tion­al “Meet the Lab” and Student and Early-Career Schol­ar events, creat­ing struc­tured oppor­tu­ni­ties for dialogue, profes­sion­al devel­op­ment, and sustained collab­o­ra­tion across career stages and insti­tu­tion­al contexts.
